Welcome to the STAT Emergency Medical Service

EMS Education and Training Center

STAT EMS became a licensed Proprietary School with the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth, and the State of Michigan Department of Education in 2008 affiliating with Hurley Medical Center.

The EMS Education Department began in March 2008 due to increased demands for higher quality pre-hospital education and to encourage promotional opportunities for its medical staff.  STAT claimed its own EMS Education home in the fall of 2012 due to increased enrollment, demand for higher education, and its Mission and Vision for pre-hospital EMS in the Region.

STAT’s Education Department employs a Medical Director of EMS programs, EMS Program Director, four part-time Paramedic and EMT-Basic Specialty Course Instructors, and one full time administrator.  STAT instructors are also certified to teach ACLS, PALS, and PHTLS. The department also maintains trained EMT and Paramedic Clinical Instructors and preceptors for its students. STAT currently provides CPR/AED, Medical First Responder, EMT-Basic, PHTLS, EMSIC, and Paramedic courses.

STAT EMS is undergoing submission to CoAEMSP for accreditation review and looks forward to accrediting its Paramedic Program in 2017.

STAT's Education Department also provides its Paramedic and EMT staff with FREE EMS training courses such as PALS, ACLS, PHTLS, BLS, Emergency Vehicle Operations, and Continued Education. STAT also provides on-site CPR training for health care facilities, physician and nurse staff, fire, and police.

Since the EMS Education Department’s inception in 2008 the department has trained over 5,000 community members, health care professionals, first responders, police officers and firefighters in AHA CPR, MFR, PHTLS, EMT-Basic and Paramedic training.
