EMT Basic Cadet Academy - Immediate hire as Full or Part-Time with STAT EMS

STAT EMS is sponsoring at NO COST a 10 week EMT-Basic Cadet Academy.  This is a comprehensive and challenging Academy for those interested in immediate employment with STAT EMS upon successful completion of the Academy and passing the National Registry Exam. This Academy is based on curricula set forth by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).

Academy Length:   Minimum 162 classroom hours and minimum of 54 clinical hours as required by MDHHS.

Academy Internship:  8 hours internship and observation at Hurley Emergency Department.  24 hours of clinical observation on paramedic and basic          ambulance.  12 hours of SEM Department rotation.

Academy Internship SitesHurley Medical Center Emergency Department, STAT EMS ambulance, and STAT EMS Supply-Equipment-Maintenance (SEM).

Student Policy and Procedure Manual: Currently updating.

Academy Date/Days/Times:  Academy #12 begins September 5, 2017. Tuesday/Thursday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. and every other Saturday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Academy Cost:  For non-sponsored Cadet, EMT applicant's:  $1,100.00 (does NOT includes books, on-line material and clinical uniform). 

                                  Approved STAT Cadet is NO cost, all books, uniform and on-line material is included.  

Academy Location: 512 West Court Street Main School Campus Academy.

Certification:   Certificate of Completion and eligibility to write the NREMT Certification Exam and apply for a MDHHS EMT License.

Academy Admissions:    

1. Applicants MUST be 19 years or older upon completion of the Academy, H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent.

2. The Cadet must complete an admissions evaluation.

3. Successful Interview with Human Resources, EMS Operations, and EMS Education staff.

4. Physical Agility Exam from Hurley Medical Center Occupational Health.

5. Successfully meet extensive background check, Driver’s License Check, Drug Test, and Physical.

6. Cadets are responsible to have Hepatitis vaccination and a burnet TBS test. 

7. MUST be in excellent physical condition.

In order to become a Sponsored EMT-Basic Cadet, the EMT Cadet agrees to the following stipulations:

Upon completion of the EMT-Basic Cadet Academy and obtaining Michigan EMT-Basic licensure, you agree to work for STAT EMS for a period of 15 months following successfully completing the employment probationary period, and at a minimum of Part-Time status. 

If you self-terminate the EMT-Basic Academy by your choice, for any reason, you agree to pay STAT EMS the Academy tuition of $1,100.00.

If you are dropped or terminated from the EMT-Basic Academy, for any reason, by STAT EMS, you agree to pay STAT EMS the Academy tuition of $1,100.00.

If you do not successfully pass the National Registry written exam in three (3) attempts within the 10 weeks immediately following the completion of the Academy, you agree to pay STAT EMS the Academy tuition of $1,100.00.

You understand that you must successfully complete all of STAT EMS’ pre-employment requirements in order to be hired by STAT EMS, including, but not limited to; Background Check, Driver’s License Check, Drug Test, Physical, Job Essentials Exam, checks with the State of Michigan, National Sex Offender Registries, and OIG Exclusions List.  If you fail to successfully complete any of the above required pre-employment checks you will not be sponsored by STAT EMS.

If your employment with STAT EMS is terminated, either voluntarily or involuntarily during the 120 day Probationary Period and/or the 15 month employment period, you agree to repay STAT EMS the Academy tuition of $1,100.00.

If you have a Felony Conviction, you will not be accepted in any STAT EMS education program. Misdemeanor Convictions "MAY" preclude you from taking the Nation Registry Exam.
