Hybrid Paramedic Academy "ON-LINE"!

This is an in-depth "Hybrid"  on-line Paramedic course for the pre-hospital health care provider at the Advanced Level. This program is designed to teach the skills of the National Curriculum for Paramedic. The course is based on criteria set fourth in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Health Curricula. Upon successful completion of the Paramedic course the applicant will be required to successfully pass the National Registry Exam.

Academy Length: The estimated course length is approximately 1200 hours. 500 hours of class time and 600 to 700 hours clinical time (Clinical time is based upon student meeting clinical objectives). 

Academy Times:  Academy coming winter 2017.

Clinical Objectives:   Students can expect to have at minimum 574 hours in these clinical areas, however the clinical objectives must be met, therefore clinical times may vary.

Hospital Clinical Sites:  Hurley Medical Center Emergency Department, OB, OR, Pediatric ED, CCU, and Geriatric Unit.

Internship Sites: STAT EMS and the Office of the Genesee County Sheriff Department Paramedic Division. 

Admissions:     The minimum requirement for admission to a Paramedic Academy are successful completion of an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)         course.  Individuals wishing to participate in the Paramedic examination for licensure must provide proof of current Michigan licensure at the EMT or EMT-Specialist level or past Michigan licensure at the EMT level and currently NREMT at the EMT or EMT-I level.    The student must complete an admissions evaluation, interview, and pass a criminal background check.  Student must obtain Hepatitis vaccination and a burnet TBS test.

Academy Fee:  $4,000.00. Student MUST have adequate and proficient computer skills to be successful in this program. (Computer is NOT provided).  ACLS, PHTLS, and PALS certifications are included in the tuition cost for STAT EMS employees only.

Certification: Student must successfully complete ACLS certification prior to graduation. Certificate of completion and eligibility to write the NREMT Certification Exam and apply for a MDHHS Paramedic License.
